ARAG UK has an opportunity for an Actuarial Analyst to join the Actuarial team, part of the wider Finance function. This role has a particular focus on representing Actuarial in tasks relating to reserving and capital, which includes activities related to regulatory and internal reporting and ad-hoc tasks that support the actuarial function. It is a business-facing role that requires both technical skill and the ability to strike a balance between collaborative working and independent challenge.
In this role you can expect to provide input to reserving and/or capital calculations in line with best practice and make appropriate recommendations. You will help to create, develop and document processes and models to support the reserving and capital teams, whilst monitoring claims and exposure activity on a regular basis.
This is a great opportunity to develop capabilities to cover a range of actuarial disciplines, communicate clearly and foster productive working relationships with the wider business, as well as supporting in the wider development and training of the actuarial team.
As well as the collaborative aspects, you can expect to carry out other actuarial investigations that may be required from time to time under UK regulation and legislation, whilst following UK GAAP and Solvency II related guidance.
Furthermore, the successful candidate will look to review critically the assumptions proposed for use in corporate planning and investigate and recommend improvements to processes surrounding the above actuarial activities, both within the department and beyond.
As an integral member of the team, good communication skills are essential to this position. You'll have the opportunity to develop constructive working relationships with stakeholders across the position including from Finance, Risk, Underwriting, Pricing, Claims and senior management. It's therefore important that the successful candidate is able to demonstrate an ability to communicate on technical topics and at an appropriate level for a varying audience and challenge proposals put forward by colleagues in a constructive way.

1. A degree in a subject with high mathematical or statistical content
2. Working towards, or interested in working towards Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries or equivalent
3. Ability to form a well justified, independent actuarial view, then use it to engage with management and work productively with peers and management to effect change
4. Ability to build good working relationships with ARAG Risk, ARAG Underwriting and ARAG Finance functions
