What you’ll do at work
The Apprentice Joiner will support senior joiners and carpenters in constructing, repairing, and installing wood-based components. This hands-on role is ideal for individuals interested in building a career in joinery and carpentry, offering the chance to gain practical experience while working toward relevant trade certifications. The apprentice will learn essential skills, techniques, and safety practices to become proficient in joinery.
Responsibilities :
* Assist in Joinery Tasks: Work under supervision to help with measuring, cutting, shaping, and assembling wood for various projects.
* Learn Joinery Techniques: Study and practice techniques for creating and installing doors, windows, cabinets, stairs, and other wooden structures.
* On-site Assistance: Provide support on construction sites, carrying tools, cleaning up work areas, and helping with installations.
* Tool and Equipment Handling: Gain familiarity with and safely use hand tools (e.g., saws, chisels) and power tools (e.g., drills, sanders) required for joinery work.
* Material Preparation: Help prepare materials by sanding, staining, and treating wood as required for each project.
* Quality Control: Learn to inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and project specifications.
* Follow Safety Protocols: Comply with all health and safety regulations, wearing appropriate protective equipment and maintaining a safe work environment.
* Technical Reading: Practice reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings relevant to joinery projects.

* Training will be at Doncaster College where you will access a wide range of facilities on offer
* Day release
* You will undertake The Level 2 Carpentry and Joinery apprenticeship standard.
* You will undertake Functional Skills for English and/or Maths if needed
* You will undertake both on and off the training by a team of industry qualified professionals to give you the best skills, knowledge, and experience
