East Lothian Council are looking to recruit Early Years Support Workers for their supply list.

Working across schools within East Lothian.
Working on an 'as and when required basis'.
East Lothian Council invite applications from suitably qualified practitioners to join our Early Years Support Worker supply workforce. You should have a good standard of general education and hold an SVQ in Social Services (Children & Young People) at SCQF Level 6, or be willing to work towards this qualification within the appropriate time period. Most importantly, you should have relevant experience of working with children aged pre-5 and have a keen interest in developing your knowledge in children's support, care, and development. As part of our supply workforce, you will be required to work across various locations on full-time or part-time hours, supporting different teams on a casual basis. You will be joining established, motivated teams of practitioners and should be able to adapt and be flexible to the work of the teams and be willing to continue to learn and develop your knowledge of Early Years.
Please note - All Supply Staff are expected to complete Child Protection Training on the Council's e-learning system within one week of being added to the Supply Register.
Job Details
To work in support of early years' staff by contributing towards the creation of a warm, friendly, safe, and caring environment for children aged 2 - 5 years.

Job Requirements
Relevant Qualifications
Education: Good standard of general education.
Must hold an SVQ in Social Services (Children & Young People) at SCQF Level 6 (or an alternative SSSC recognised equivalent qualification). If not already obtained, you must commit to achieve the SVQ in the appropriate period of registration to meet the SSSC registration requirements.
First Aid qualification or willingness to work towards gaining it.
Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate or willingness to work towards gaining it.
SSSC registration or agreement to register within 6 months from the date of appointment to this post is essential.
PVG Membership
This post is considered as Regulated Work with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
All preferred candidates for posts carrying out regulated work with these groups are required to become a PVG Scheme member, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if they are already a member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made by East Lothian Council.
Please note: PVG member's records are constantly updated with any new vetting information that arises. Any information that is disclosed on a PVG membership or update check, if relevant to the post being applied for, will be discussed with the applicant and investigated prior to any formal offer being made.
