We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Respiratory Physiotherapist to join our specialist Respiratory Medicine Team. This exciting role offers the opportunity to work in a static, clinical setting, focusing on the treatment and management of respiratory conditions. As a Static Respiratory Physiotherapist, you will be responsible for providing specialised care to patients with respiratory issues, delivering high-quality physiotherapy interventions, and taking part in service improvements.
The Respiratory Medicine therapies team works across 4 medical wards, including a 20-bedded NIV unit and a second specialist respiratory ward. The team provides clinical input to a wide range of patients and conditions, including MNDs, critical care step-downs, tracheostomy weaning, COPD, and bronchiectasis.
This post is based at Royal Stoke University Hospital and involves working within a 7-day shift system which will include weekend, late shift, Bank Holiday, and on-call working.
Main duties of the job
As a senior physiotherapist, the successful candidate will be expected to provide daily clinical leadership to the team, comprising of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and technical instructors under the supervision and guidance of the Advanced Therapists. They will have a leading role in our student education and will also be able to foster good links and working relationships with the wider multi-disciplinary team.
As a static member of the team, there will be opportunities for professional and personal progression to develop clinical, educational, and leadership skills, as well as opportunities to lead service development projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assess and treat patients with respiratory conditions, including but not limited to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, bronchiectasis, and post-surgical rehabilitation.
* Develop individualised treatment plans based on thorough assessments and patient needs.
* Provide education to patients and their families about self-management, breathing techniques, and cough adjuncts.
* Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as required.
* Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care delivery.
* Promote and maintain high standards of clinical practice and patient safety.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with all relevant regulations.
* Participate in clinical audits, continuing education, and research activities.
