Job purpose
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Packaging Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will assist in the design, development, and testing of packaging solutions to ensure product integrity, cost-effectiveness, sustainability and compliance with regulatory expectations globally.
The holder of the position will report to the Global Engineering Manager, Engineering Services for Aftermarket.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in the design and development of packaging solutions for new and existing products, including packaging artwork and innovative options.
* Conduct packaging tests to ensure durability and compliance with industry standards.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product development, marketing, and supply chain to optimize packaging designs & sustainability (Reduction, Reuse, Recycle).
* Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of packaging specifications and test results.
* Troubleshoot packaging issues and provide technical support to manufacturing and quality teams.
* Maintain and update the Master BOM (Bill of Materials) database with new packaging updates.
* Allocate PDP (Product Development Process) part numbers and barcodes.
* Ensure packaging is correct for part security and storage resistance to environmental corrosion, considering size, weight, material, and shelf life requirements.
* Lead and complete PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) sign-off with Supplier Quality Development based on global guidelines and design for use.
What We’re Looking For
* Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
* 0-2 years of experience in packaging engineering or a related role.
* Basic understanding of packaging materials, processes, and testing methods.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
* Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
Experience/Skills:
* Degree in Packaging for automotive industry or Mechanical Engineering.
* Strong computer skills.
* Strong understanding of packaging design, labels, cartons.
* Ability to use 3rd party software for design.
