Purpose: The purpose of this job is to manage the day-to-day maintenance of stock levels within the inventory parameters on the stock system and monitor merchandising and housekeeping standards of stock on shelves in such a way that stock discrepancies are reduced in order to minimize losses. This includes managing the flow of stock from the receiving department in the respective departments in the store, ensuring that products are unpacked correctly and making sure that accurate stock records are maintained at all times. In addition, this includes ensuring that stock corresponds with stock on hand that’s recorded on the stock system used and investigating issues that arise in such a manner to ensure the continuous availability of stock.
Key Responsibilities
1. Control daily, weekly, and monthly stocktakes/cycle counts in various departments according to a schedule.
2. Investigate stock discrepancies in various departments and liaise with the stock controllers across the relevant branches to check stock on hands against computer stock.
3. Maintain stock levels including monitoring of transfers to be actioned timeously.
4. Liaise with management on a daily basis where there are stock discrepancies and request management to adjust stock accordingly.
5. Investigate outstanding invoices and orders before forwarding adjustments to management, alleviating errors and checking of credit slips as per management's request or using initiative with regards to credit slips when stock discrepancies are identified.
6. Maintain harmonious working relationships with internal stakeholders who supply and transfer stock by consistently delivering internal customer service satisfaction in terms of the company’s customer service standards.
7. Comply with Health & Safety standards.
8. Participate in perpetual stock takes.
9. Ensure housekeeping of work area.
10. Delegate work-related stock tasks to junior personnel.
11. Perform any work-related tasks as delegated by superior.
Requirements
1. Matric or Equivalent.
2. Candidates with no Matric but have 5-7 years’ experience in a Stock management function; Managing Stock course at 54 credits, Sales and Customer Care course at 30 credits, and Leadership and Supervisory course at 50 credits and In-house Leadership course will be considered for the position.
3. 5 Years’ minimum experience in a similar role.
4. Internal stock system knowledge.
5. Ability to handle pressure.
6. Ability to communicate effectively (verbal & written) at all levels.
7. Policy and procedure driven.
8. Microsoft Office (Internet, Emails, Word & Excel).
9. Good numerical skills.
10. Planning, time management & organising skills.
