Junior Quantity Surveyor (Mechanical)
£45,000 - £50,000

Are you a Junior Quantity Surveyor with mechanical experience? Working for a growing business that specializes in the fire and security sector, this role offers the opportunity for growth and development.
You will work closely with the operations staff, guided by our Senior QS, Commercial Manager, and Operations Director, acting as a bridge between clients' QS site teams and their internal teams. Site visits will be a key part of the role to track progress and inform their operational teams.
Core Responsibilities:
1. Project Budgets: Prepare and monitor project budgets in collaboration with the Contracts Manager and Operations Director.
2. Cost Monitoring: Track budgets against costs and projections on a monthly basis.
3. Subcontractor Management: Send enquiries, analyze quotations, place orders, handle interim payments, and finalize subcontractor accounts.
4. Contractual Obligations: Ensure all contractual obligations are fulfilled.
5. Commercial Advice: Advise contracts managers on commercial matters (e.g., variations, delays) and ensure they are properly identified and recorded.
6. Contractual Notices: Assist contracts managers in preparing contractual notices.
7. Site Visits: Conduct site visits to monitor for potential variations and ensure site records are maintained.
8. Relationship Management: Maintain good relationships with clients, consultants, and colleagues.
Person Specification:
1. Experience: Work experience in surveying or construction management.
2. Knowledge: Understanding of JCT Standard Forms of Contract or similar.
3. Education: Quantity surveying degree or professional qualifications.
4. IT Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other IT tools.
5. Budgeting Experience: Experience in producing and monitoring project budgets.
6. Payment Tracking: Experience in tracking when payments are due/received/outstanding.
7. Certification: CSCS Card.
8. Driving Licence: Full UK Driving Licence.
