For graduates from a range of Engineering disciplines seeking a challenging, rewarding and recession-proof career, look no further than the world of corporate insurance.
The insurance industry is a fascinating one, posing a varied and complex intellectual challenge capable of satisfying even the most curious of minds. It is also a fast-moving and dynamic sector, one in which the UK is regarded as the market leader.
This role sits within the specialist team of a leading global insurance broker - one of the best-known financial institutions in the world. It boasts an enviable client list, comprising some of the largest and most complex businesses on the planet.
As a Trainee Property Risk Engineer, you will undertake site surveys and audits for a variety of businesses. You will produce reports on site risks and existing control measures, supplemented by your own risk recommendations and reviews of those provided by insurers and third parties. These efforts aim to reduce the likelihood of costly claims and assist your colleagues within Broking Teams to secure comprehensive cover at competitive premiums. As your experience grows, you will have the opportunity to help account manage some of these clients.
This is a home-based role, requiring regional and national travel. In time, you may also have the opportunity to visit client sites overseas.
This forward-thinking organisation welcomes applications from Engineering graduates with several years’ experience working in industry post-university. During this time, you will have developed your business acumen and honed your communication and stakeholder-management skills. A natural curiosity is essential to develop a sound understanding of your clients’ businesses and the risks they face. Excellent communication skills and the ability to produce accurate and informative reports are crucial.
To help you acclimate to the insurance industry, you will be mentored by some of the best in the business, committed to your professional development from day one.
Working for arguably the most prestigious insurance broker in the world, you will benefit from numerous career-development opportunities across various business areas, including sector specialists, managerial, business development, or Account Director roles.
You will receive a generous basic salary and car allowance, plus bonus. Additionally, you will benefit from a flexible benefits package tailored to your personal circumstances, which includes a market-leading pension arrangement. As part of your development, you will receive full support towards professional insurance qualifications under the Chartered Insurance Institute.
