The Opportunity
The Enterprise Architect will be a member of the Architecture team in the department of Information System Services providing leadership, analysis and design around the development of the University's digital architecture. The role will involve working with a range of academic and professional individuals reporting directly to the Head of Customer, Strategy and Governance.
What you will need
In-depth knowledge of Enterprise Architecture frameworks, principles, and best practices, with the ability to produce clear and concise architectural documentation.
Proven leadership skills to lead on the development of architectural decisions and solutions.
Experience of identifying architectural challenges and proposing innovative solutions to address them.

Major Duties:
1. Analyse our current technologies to detect critical deficiencies, legacy and technical debt, and recommend solutions for improvement, taking into account the Digital Strategy, available resources, and capital planning.
2. Lead on the design of the future-state technology architecture, analysing the enterprise business context (business strategy and trends), as well as change requirements and transition plans.
3. Carry out horizon scanning, identifying emerging trends and their potential impact and opportunity for the University, driving digital innovation by leveraging innovative technologies and approaches to renovate, extend, and transform the existing development and solutions environment.
4. Identify priorities for change to enable delivery at pace and lead on the delivery of cross-cutting capabilities that enable change.
5. Establish architectural principles, policies, standards, and develop governance and new ways of working to ensure adherence across the delivery life cycle, and provide guidance for the solutions, data, and technology architects.
6. Develop and maintain a framework for architectural modelling, documentation, and graphical representations of the system architecture models.
7. Guide the organisation to make appropriate business, technology, and data decisions taking into account re-use, security, sustainability, and scalability, to achieve value for money and reduce risk.
