The Role
Capgemini Engineering are looking for a Principal Software Lead whose main responsibility will be to lead the delivery of large and complex safety critical software projects alongside Project Managers.
You will be operating in Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) and regulated industries including Defence, Air Traffic Control and Rail, and delivering to Capgemini’s flagship and most valued customers. We are looking for a proven Leader with a visible passion for high integrity systems, and someone who positively and directly affects the motivation and excellence of others.
You will be experienced in leading customers, in-house delivery teams and supply chains across the full software lifecycle. Above all, you will have the leadership experience, capability, strength and vision to make decisions, control complex projects and drive a team to a successful outcome.
You will work directly, and as part of a tight-knit team, with an experienced and professional Project Manager, blending your skills to form a robust leadership duo. You will be able to balance a strong sense of process and safety with the pragmatism of engineering compromise to ensure compliant, on-time, on-budget delivery.

Your Profile
Essential
1. Proven track record of technically leading teams in the delivery of large safety critical projects in relevant industries
2. Proven experience of the full software lifecycle
3. Highly motivated and results-driven and able to drive others to be the same
4. Strong decision maker and clear ability to drive an outcome.
5. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly build rapport with staff at all levels
6. Experience in leading people, building careers and capability.
7. Methodical yet efficient approach to work, with good attention to detail, strong logic and reasoning skills.
8. Sound business acumen and understanding of project and business finances.
Desirable
1. Degree qualified in software engineering or related/relevant subject.
2. Chartered Engineer and member of the IEEE or BCS.
3. Appreciation of formal methods.
