Job Title: Team Leader – Children's Residential Home (EBD)
Location: Burton-on-Trent
Salary: £38,500 per annum (inclusive of sleep-ins)
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time
The Role
As a Team Leader, you will play a vital role in supporting the Registered Manager with the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring the highest standards of care and safety for the young people. You will lead by example, provide guidance and supervision to the care team, and be actively involved in care planning, safeguarding, and promoting positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Registered Manager in the daily operations of the home.
* Lead, motivate, and supervise a team of Residential Support Workers.
* Ensure the delivery of person-centred care that meets the emotional and developmental needs of young people.
* Assist in developing and implementing individual care and behaviour management plans.
* Promote a safe, nurturing, and structured environment in line with Ofsted standards.
* Contribute to staff development through training, mentoring, and appraisals.
* Ensure all safeguarding procedures are strictly followed and concerns reported appropriately.
* Participate in the on-call rota and complete sleep-ins as required (included in salary).
* Maintain accurate records and contribute to internal audits, inspections, and reports.
Requirements
* Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a residential setting with children/young people with EBD.
* At least 1 year of experience in a senior or leadership role within children’s residential care.
* Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) – essential.
* Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management (Children and Young People’s Services) – desirable or willingness to work towards it.
* In-depth understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and children’s legislation (e.g., Children’s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards).
* Ability to lead and inspire a team while promoting a child-focused culture.
* Resilient, empathetic, and passionate about making a positive difference in young people’s lives.
* Full UK driving licence – essential.
