What's involved with this role: Interim Child Protection Conference Chair and Reviewing Officer Wakefield 0009 CE61 / 1 Hybrid working Enhanced DBS disclosure required for this role Full UK driving license and availability of car for work, subject to disabled people being given special consideration. Key Requirements: A recognised social work qualification - DIPSW, CQSW, CSS. Must be registered as a qualified Social Worker by the GSCC under Section 56 of the Care Standard Act 2000. Minimum of 5 years post-qualifying experience in social work with children and families. Experience of chairing meetings involving children and families. Sufficient relevant social work experience in children’s social care to undertake role. Thorough working knowledge of the legal framework relating to looked after children and care leavers, including knowledge of Nation minimum Standards, Adoption Agencies Regulations 2005 and Care Planning and Review regs 2010. Thorough knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and other related legislation and guidance. Thorough knowledge of ‘Working Together to Safeguard Children’. The purpose of the role is to carry out independent chairing role, to check the quality and appropriateness of child protection and care plans for each child, and ensuring statutory requirements and departmental policy and procedures are adhered to. Key Responsibilities: Ensure the safety and wellbeing of children and young people who may be at risk of significant harm. Ensure services deliver positive outcomes based on Every Child Matters principals is consistent with legislation, regulations, guidance, local policies and procedures, informed by relevant research and evaluation and which represents value for money. Chair child protection case conferences and statutory reviews of children looked after by the local authority. Check that children, their families and substitute carers are involved appropriately in the planning and review of children’s cases. Take appropriate follow-up action with responsible managers, staff and senior managers to ensure plans are developed and implemented. Maintain an ongoing overview and tracking of all allocated cases. Promote and enable full participation of young people and their parents within their reviews and conferences.
