The Role
As Transport Manager, you will take full ownership of the transport department, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and excellence in delivery operations. Managing a fleet of 10 curtain-side rigid trucks and 2 artics, you'll oversee deliveries across the Southwest and surrounding regions, ensuring a seamless customer experience.
This role is primarily managerial, but there will be times when a hands-on approach is required to support the team. You will also work closely with other site departments to drive efficiency and maintain the highest safety and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead and manage a team of drivers and a routing planner to meet On-Time In-Full (OTIF) targets and fleet utilisation goals.
2. Minimise third-party haulage usage and optimise in-house logistics.
3. Oversee transport compliance, ensuring adherence to BRC, ISO, FEMAS, and other industry standards.
4. Champion health & safety, leading department meetings and ensuring incident responses are managed effectively.
5. Support internal and external audits and implement corrective actions.
6. Conduct new starter inductions and training for transport staff.
Your Skills & Experience
1. CPC Certificate (essential).
2. Experience in distribution & logistics (chemicals industry experience preferred). Knowledge of ADR (re carriage of Dangerous Goods).
3. Strong IT and data entry skills, with excellent attention to detail.
4. A proactive, highly organised approach with the ability to lead and inspire a team.
