We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and dynamic senior resilience professional to provide senior leadership for resilience / emergency planning across Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire. You’ll be employed by Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council which hosts the shared service but will be expected to work across the wider sub-region, working across three upper tier and four lower tier local authorities. You’ll lead an experienced team of resilience officers across the joint Resilience Team and will also be expected to work closely with other local authority resilience teams across the region. You’ll have exceptional leadership skills and will be responsible for ensuring that partners meet their statutory responsibilities under the Civil Contingencies Act, including planning for and responding to emergencies, business continuity and recovery. You’ll be highly experienced at partnership working, across a range of local, regional and national agencies including Category 1 responders as well as voluntary and community organisations. You will have experience working with Local Resilience Forums and will be expected to work at very senior level with both the West Midlands and Warwickshire LRF, providing expert advice and leadership as required. You’ll be expected to take a leading role in coordinating responses to internal and external emergencies, liaising with very senior staff at Tactical and Strategic level and ensuring that all relevant staff are effectively trained and that robust rotas are in place to respond 24/7. You’ll be forward-looking and proactive, ensuring that there are robust and tested plans in place to respond to a wide range of emergencies and that the authorities covered by the joint Resilience Team have effective arrangements across key services to support business continuity. You’ll also be responsible for recovery planning, working with key internal and external partners to enable communities and services to recover in the event of a major emergency or incident. The post requires a high degree of flexibility and the ability to respond to emergencies and incidents out of hours.
