Reserve Warden Location: County Down Closing Date: 28/01/2025 Salary: £23,903 per annum Vacancy Type: Permanent About The Role Our client is looking for a proactive Reserve Warden to assist with the management of their nature reserve. As part of the team, you will assist with all aspects of habitat management, with the aim of maintaining and increasing species biodiversity, as well as ensuring the reserve is functioning at its best by maintaining habitats and associated on-site infrastructure. As a Reserve Warden, you will be competent in species monitoring and habitat management, a natural people person with a proven ability to engage and enthuse visitors about wildlife and nature. You need to be a flexible and positive team player, who is happy to work in all weather conditions and is comfortable with risk assessments and compliance with safety procedures, supervising volunteers and volunteer work groups. This is a full-time role, working 5 days out of 7, including weekends and bank holiday working. About You To join as a Reserve Warden, you'll: - Have a good knowledge of nature conservation and the management of natural habitats. - Bring experience in the conservation field, either time spent employed or as a volunteer. - Have experience using machinery such as tractors, brushcutters or ride-on mowers. - Officially recognised certification is highly desirable, particularly for chainsaw, brushcutter, tractor or herbicide application. - Be happy to work in all weather conditions, with a love for the outdoors and natural history. - Have reasonable skills in bird identification and other species groups. - Have a full current driving licence.
