Due to the continued expansion of the hospital, The New Foscote Hospital has a new, exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and experienced senior nurse to join our nursing team as Junior Sister. The New Foscote Hospital has been successfully established in Banbury for over 40 years and has provided services and treatments to thousands of people from across the region during this time. We have over 50 consultants, all of whom are leaders in their specialist fields and choose to hold their private practices here, working alongside our friendly, highly qualified and experienced nursing and support teams. As the Junior Ward Sister you will be responsible for supporting the leadership and overall management of the ward, providing the highest standards of care and services. This includes the assessment and evaluations of care in keeping with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and the Scope of Professional Practice as well as the Hospitals Policies and Protocols. This is a hands-on role where you will be role-modelling clinical excellence daily, whilst also supervising clinical care and overseeing quality and safety standards. You will be at the centre of patient care. The strength of clinical leadership has an impact on the care patients receive and the experience of staff. In considering this role please note that: This is a full-time hospital based role This appointment is for an energetic and ambitious individual Our managers lead by example Clinical managers are expected to wear uniforms and have a hands-on approach Akessa Health Care does not support hybrid working Core Responsibilities: To act with the upmost professionalism and to adhere to the NMC code of conduct Monitor and assist in the delivery of patient-centred care Respect the patients dignity, privacy, wishes and beliefs A hands on role within the nursing environment Encourage, develop and enhance the skills and knowledge of others and self Promote best evidence-based practice Monitor, apply and ensure others comply with legislation, policies and procedures Work alongside the Matron to ensure that all departmental documents, policies and procedures are up-to-date and in line with current thinking, guidelines and laws Provide administrational, organisational and managerial support to the Matron Take full accountability for delegated tasks What you will be doing: Be involved in the daily handovers to communicate all aspects of care and needs To demonstrate excellent communication skills within all nursing care To assess and plan nursing daily care Provide pre and post-operative care Monitor and administer medication and intravenous infusions Take patient samples, pulses, temperatures and blood pressures To supervise and mentor staff nurses, healthcare assistants (HCAs) and student nurses Organise and prioritise workloads Provide emotional support to patients and relatives To efficiently and accurately complete all written documentation and record keeping Be a role model to other staff on all departmental and hospital-wide matters Ensure the working environment is as safe as possible and complies with company, professional, legal requirements and guidelines Adhere to Infection Prevention Control policies and procedures To work closely with the Procurement Department To assist and support the Matron with any additional departmental work To undertake audits and spot-checks, utilising results to maintain / uplift the standards within the hospital Liaising with senior members of staff on hospital-wide matters Covering Matrons duties when required Undertake any other projects or duties as agreed with the Matron and Director of Nursing.
