Overview
Our Inspection Department is critical to the success of our business. They are responsible for ensuring our products not only meet our client spec but have the level of technical excellence we strive to produce. This role will focus on our assemblies and products of an Electrical nature and will involve being a pro-active member of the team to establish best practices and working hand in hand with several departments on product issues and how to best avoid them in future. Working to a work to list you will ensure all goods are inspected in a timely and efficient manner. This role will allow you to develop your skills in the development of inspection activities/methodologies and personnel.
Responsibilities
* Perform quality control inspections on electrical assemblies, cable assemblies and electrical parts.
* Identify and report non-conformances using in-house processes.
* Responsible for compiling, analyzing and preparing Inspection Plans.
* Assists in developing documentation for instructional, descriptive, reference and/or informational purposes.
* Co-ordinates and controls the Calibration of Equipment used by MTS Inspection and Production as per Company Procedure.
* Co-ordinate the in process inspection and surveillance of products from Good Inwards and through the manufacturing process, ensuring that Process & Product checks/ inspections are undertaken. Including first of batch acceptance check (whenever required).
* To liaise with Production, Production Engineering and Engineering Support Teams on product issues. Wherever possible work closely with Production to prevent defects through application of best practice.
* Taking a Pro-active role in the development of the 'right first time' approach and 'operator responsibility' throughout manufacturing.
* To take a Pro-active role in the development of inspection activities/ methodologies/ personnel.
* To have an active role in Process & Quality System Auditing, through surveillance checks on documentation, tooling and equipment.
Requirements
Essential
* Qualified and experienced electrician / electrical engineer.
* Relevant Apprenticeship with HNC
* Good knowledge of electrical inspection and test methods / processes.
* Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to develop sustainable relationships across the business (internal and external stakeholders, and suppliers).
* Good planning and organisational skills.
* Ability to work to own initiative.
* Ability to work under pressure.
* Ability to work well as part of a team.
* IT Knowledge including MS Packages
Desirable
* Previous experience in carrying out inspection of other people's work.
* Knowledge of IPC 620 Standard
* C&G 2391 inspection & Test
* Proficient in the use of IFS (ERP System).
