An exciting opportunity has come up for an Assistant Management Accountant to join a well-established healthcare business in Birmingham. This role is available due to an upcoming restructure, and it's a great time to get involved and make an impact! Right now, the position supports both management accounts and some transactional finance, but the business is keen to shift the focus towards management accounts, giving the successful person a real opportunity to take on more responsibility and grow their skill set.\n\nThe current job holder is relocating, which has given the business the chance to rethink how this role fits into the team.
Because of that, they're initially looking for someone on a temporary basis while they refine the role. If you're looking for a role where you can develop your management accounts experience, be part of a positive and welcoming team, and have the potential to secure a long-term position, this could be a brilliant opportunity for you!\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nAssisting the Management Accountant with the preparation of management account packs, including sales reporting, cash flow forecasts, and other financial statements up to trial balance.\nSupporting month-end and year-end processes, including reconciliations.\nPosting journals such as accruals and prepayments.\nAssisting with the preparation of monthly management reports.\nAssisting with organisational budgeting and forecasting, working closely with stakeholders to provide accurate financial insights.\nPreparing ad hoc reports requested by budget holders.\nReviewing cost centres and assisting with reporting.\nRaising revenue, accruals, and invoices.\nUndertaking intercompany management and reconciliations, ensuring accurate reporting across entities.\nContributing to continuous improvement within the finance team, identifying ways to enhance processes and reporting.\nCarrying out some transactional finance tasks (such as processing and coding invoices) during the transition period while the restructure is ongoing.Candidate Attributes and Skills\n\nExperience in assistant management accounting or strong transactional finance experience with some exposure to management accounts.\nPrevious experience supporting the preparation of management account packs, even if just updating data used in these reports.\nKeen to develop management accounts skills and take on more responsibility in this area.\nComfortable with reconciliations, posting journals, accruals, and prepayments.\nWilling to support some transactional tasks during the transition period.\nImmediately available or on a short one-week notice.Benefits\n\nHybrid working - 3 days in the office, with flexibility around month-end.\nOpportunity to step into a more management accounts-focused role.\nChance to secure a permanent position as the business refines the role structure.\nSupportive and collaborative finance team, offering great exposure to different areas of accounting.This role is perfect for someone who has started to dabble in assistant management accounting and is looking to further develop their experience-potentially in an environment where they can begin stepping away from transactional tasks and focus on management accounts.\n\nIf this sounds like the right fit for you, apply now!\n\nAt Gleeson Recruitment Group, we embrace inclusivity and welcome applicants of all backgrounds, experiences, and abilities.
