We are seeking an enthusiastic and inspirational Pre-school Practitioner to join our amazing team at Pine Cones Pre-school, part of The Pines Primary School, located in Red Lodge (just off the A11). This is a unique and exciting opportunity for an experienced practitioner to join us and work with the Pine Cones team to establish a creative and inspiring environment for children starting out on their learning journey. Pine Cones provides care for children from 8am - 4pm from ages three years to four. The position is for 32 hours per week between the hours of 8.45am— 3.15pm, plus extra hours as required, including the weekly staff meeting every other Thursday. This is for term time plus 5 training days (39 weeks per year). At Pine Cones we follow the ‘In the Moment’ approach, where children develop and learn through high quality adult interaction and play. Main duties: To support with the planning and organising of activities and opportunities that extend learning. You will have the opportunity to learn how to produce a full and accurate activity plan and evaluation. To support with the production of accurate and effective observations to assess the children’s progress and the effectiveness of the learning environment. To support the development of the children with an early year’s curriculum framework. To manage the children’s behaviour and routines in line with setting’s policies and guidelines. To work within a key-worker system. To work in partnership with parents/carers within the key-person system. To maintain objective, accurate and up-to-date records that identify the children’s individual needs, abilities and progress, and use these as a focus for future planning. To always maintain confidentiality. To work within the setting’s health and safety guidelines and undertake specific tasks related to the safety and hygiene of the children and the pre-school. To work within the setting’s child protection procedures. To work within the setting’s equal opportunities policy. To share tasks necessary as part of the general upkeep, tidiness, and cleanliness of the pre-school, and which contribute to the general well-being of the team. To participate in outings and trips and be aware of additional responsibilities for the children’s safety that these necessitate. To participate in and contribute to regular staff meetings and training to improve skills and knowledge and develop a positive attitude that enhances practice. To assist in the support and supervision of students in the pre-school. To undertake specific roles and responsibilities within the nursery To undertake any other tasks, as requested by the leaders, that are necessary for the smooth running of the pre-school and the welfare of the children in its care.
