Senior Business Architect c. £90,000 per annum Bedford Based Hybrid Working 12-months with an option to extend to 18 months FTC As a Senior Business Architect at the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS), you will be instrumental in shaping the future of the organisation as we evolve into a more customer-focused, modern, and outcomes-driven organisation that can deliver at pace. This role sits at the heart of our transformation journey, ensuring that our operating model, systems, and services are designed to deliver maximum value to the people we serve. This role will play a key part in aligning strategic goals, digital delivery, and operational execution. You will work across teams, directorates, and services to map and analyse business capabilities, processes, and systems - identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency and innovation, and drive continuous improvement. Through a holistic and strategic lens, you will lead on defining and embedding an enterprise-wide view of our future operating model and transformation roadmap. In this role, you will be responsible for: Business Architecture & Operating Model Development Design and maintain a business architecture framework that aligns with MaPS’ strategic objectives and digital transformation ambitions. Define, map, and optimise business capabilities, processes, and value streams to support the delivery of integrated, customer-focused services. Lead the development and evolution of target operating models that promote efficiency, agility, and improved outcomes for customers. Strategic Alignment & Transformation Collaborate closely with teams across strategy, technology, customer delivery, data, insight, and service design to ensure alignment between business strategy and operational delivery. Support the integration of the Pensions Dashboards Service (PDS) by establishing a clear, end-to-end view of how it fits within MaPS’ wider service ecosystem. Identify and shape transformation opportunities that enhance organisational performance and enable more effective, user-centred services. Governance & Assurance Develop and embed business design principles and frameworks to guide decision-making and delivery across the organisation. Ensure all transformation initiatives are underpinned by a robust understanding of business impacts, interdependencies, and risks. Provide business architecture assurance to maintain coherence and consistency across programmes, projects, and change activity. Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration Act as a strategic connector between business, digital, and enabling teams across the organisation to ensure a cohesive approach to service and capability design. Translate complex architectural and transformation concepts into clear, actionable insights for senior stakeholders. Champion a culture of continuous improvement by using business architecture insights to inform decisions and drive change across MaPS. Essential Skills and Experience Demonstrated experience in business architecture, enterprise architecture, or operating model design within a complex organisation. Proven ability to map and optimise business capabilities, processes, and value streams to enable strategic transformation. Strong understanding of digital services and customer-centric operating models. Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to influence at senior leadership levels. A strategic and analytical thinker with the ability to turn long-term vision into pragmatic, actionable plans. Experience working in public sector, regulatory, or similarly complex and multi-stakeholder environments. Most of our roles can operate on a hybrid basis with a minimum of 2 days in the office per week. Hybrid working is a voluntary, noncontractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business needs.
