As the band 7 Lead in Pre Assessment Clinic you will be responsible for ensuring the Pre-assessment department operates smoothly, engaging with other relevant departments as required so that our service needs are met through the delivery of high quality care.
You will be required to support the Management team, Matron and Operations Manager in the planning and implementation of issues arising from the Trust Board Strategies.
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Registered Band 7 Nurse to join our team. This post will play a crucial role in ensuring quality and safe care is maintained, whilst moving forward to meet the evolving needs of the service and population we serve.
The main duties of the role are to ensure the safe running of the Pre Assessment department day to day, ensuring the patients receive a high standard of care.
You will be required to:
• Responsible for co-coordinating and make effective use of staff, supervise staff and ensure training is maintained.
• Ensure adequate staffing levels and provide clinical leadership for staff.
• Act as a role model and leader to nursing staff
• Ensure cost effective use of resources

Who we're looking for:
• You must be a qualified nurse with experience in pre-operative assessment clinics and some leadership / Management courses
• You must hold a valid NMC pin with no conditions or restrictions
• You must have excellent communication skills and be keen to develop your patient assessment, decision-making and clinical skills.
• You will be computer literate and confident in your ability to assess over the phone.
• Pre-Assessment qualification is desirable
• You must have surgical experience

You will actively promote best practice and contribute towards quality improvements, collect collate and organise data, interpret all of the information and make a justifiable assessment, making this available to relevant others.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Leading the Pre-Assessment Team
• Managing People including Sickness, Recruitment, Governance and IPC Protocols.
• Conducting comprehensive preoperative assessments of patients scheduled for procedures
• Providing emotional support and reassurance to patients undergoing preoperative assessments
• Provide and receive complex, sensitive or contentious information
• Collaborating with medical staff to ensure patients are adequately prepared for surgery
• Adhering to hospital protocols and standards to maintain patient safety and confidentiality
• Ensuring accurate documentation of patient assessments and relevant medical history
• To ensure that clinical risk assessment is performed in line with the trust risk assessment process prior to admission and the information is used pro-actively.
