Job overview
We are currently looking to recruit two HCPC registered Mammographers to the Breast Imaging team at Chesterfield Royal Hospital on a fixed term contract. We are a close-knit group of dedicated, forward-thinking healthcare professionals, committed to providing a first-class Breast Service for our patients across Chesterfield and North Derbyshire.
Our Mammographers are key members of our multi-disciplinary workforce, operating alongside an experienced team of Consultants, Clinical Specialists, Advanced Practitioners & Assistant Practitioners. We offer a wide range of opportunities to develop new skills and to participate in all aspects of screening, triple assessment, family history and breast cancer follow-up. As a Band 6 Mammographer, we would support you to undertake leadership projects and responsibilities in line with the trust’s leadership framework, ‘Leading the Chesterfield Way’.
The Health and Wellbeing of our staff is at the heart of what we do, therefore we offer a variety of health and wellbeing initiatives to all members of our team. We appreciate that our team members have a life beyond the realms of work, hence why we welcome flexible ways of working for all. We would welcome applications from mammographers wishing to work on a full or part time basis and are happy to support mammographers returning to practice.
Main duties of the job
This is a varied role working across our two mobile screening units which rotate through a number of picturesque sites across The Peak District and North Derbyshire; as well as our satellite screening site in the centre of Chesterfield and within the assessment and symptomatic clinics based at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. You would have the chance to work with our 3 newly installed Hologic mammography units as well as our Hologic Dimensions units with Tomosynthesis-guided biopsy. Our department undertakes approximately 20,000 examinations a year between screening and symptomatic services, and we are actively looking at new ways to develop and improve the service for both staff and patients.
Chesterfield Royal is a friendly Hospital with a real community feel and we try our best to make sure that everyone feels welcomed and valued. The team in the breast screening department are friendly and supportive and as a Trust, we are keen to develop our own people. We can therefore provide opportunities in this role to broaden your knowledge, learn new skills & take on areas of advanced practice in the future.
We are looking to recruit a female Mammographer, which is a genuine occupational qualification and is exempt under Section 7(2)(e) of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975. You will need a full UK driving licence and the ability to travel to our various mobile screening sites.
