William Thompson & Son (Dumbarton) Ltd has an excellent opportunity for a Junior Transport officer to join us at our Dumbarton Office. The role holder will report to the Logistics Manager and be focused on promoting and maintaining a positive safety culture, compliance against regulatory and legislative matters, and the provision and maintenance of the Transport and Quality management systems. The Details: Location: Dumbarton Salary: Competitive Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday - 45 Hours Per Week Hours: 07:00-17:00 with additional hours as required Monthly Pay Requirements: Previous experience in an office based or customer service role. Some experience in the transport industry is preferred but not essential. Transport Manager CPC desirable. Responsibilities : Supporting the Logistics Manager with the management of the fleet through completing tasks such as managing drivers’ hours, licence checks, organising fleet repairs with the workshop and third-party contractors. Ensuring compliance with statutory laws, EU driver's hours rules, road transport regulations, Health & Safety legislation and other company policies. Assisting in the training of drivers and other staff on safety procedures and compliance requirements via regular toolbox talks. Control the company training matrix and liaise with third party training providers where required to ensure all training requirements are met. Answering calls and dealing with customer enquiries. Providing cover for the transport coordinator, involving routing the vehicles to optimise fleet efficiency, managing drivers and liaising with customers. Skills : Excellent organisational and time management skills Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and other commonly used office packages Strong IT and typing skills. Confident at presenting to an audience. The ability to prioritise tasks and work under pressure. Good team working skills. The ability to manage your own workload.
