We’re looking for a Credit Analyst Team Lead
We’re growing fast, and more customers means more credit decisions. Our credit team of around 40 Analysts is expanding and we’re looking for an experienced Team Lead with a strong credit/underwriting background to strengthen our team further.
About us
Fast, flexible finance empowers small businesses to manage their cash flow better and seize opportunities - making their business and the economy stronger as a whole. At iwoca, we do just that. We help businesses get the funds they need, when they need it, often within minutes.
We’ve already made several billion in funding available to over 100,000 businesses since we launched in 2012, and positioned ourselves as a leading Fintech in Europe. Our mission is to finance one million businesses. We’ll get there by continuing to make our finance ever more relevant and accessible to more businesses by combining cutting-edge technology, data science and a 5-star customer service.
Our culture
We’re expanding fast across our offices in London, Leeds and Frankfurt. With all this growth, we’re looking for people who want to learn on the job and lead projects, knowing that your ideas will impact thousands of small businesses.
Your Mission:
1. To have direct line management responsibility and accountability for a number of our Credit Analysts. You will monitor their performance and provide structured feedback to support their development against our progression framework.
2. Support on hiring and training of new joiners as well as the ongoing training of the wider team.
3. To assess credit applications - you’ll use your experience, a variety of data sources and our tech platform to make fast, fair and accurate decisions alongside senior members of the team.
4. You will support other analysts on larger and more complex decisions, which is a key part of our workflow.
5. Our credit decisioning is data driven. You’ll work alongside our Data Science teams to optimise our approach to lending and adapt your own approach in line with that goal.
6. We’re continually optimising our workflow, so you’ll identify and help with implementing efficiency led changes to our processes.
Requirements
We look for people who are smart, humble, motivated and who are always looking to improve. Ideally, you’ll have:
1. 2+ years experience of people management within an operational team, ideally in a credit environment.
2. 4+ years experience in commercial loan underwriting, credit sanctioning or credit analysis within the UK SME sector.
3. Passionate about developing people and building a high-performing and engaged team - you'll care about giving feedback effectively, motivating your team and communicating authentically and responsibly.
4. Upward feedback is something you value and actively source from your reports to aid your own development.
5. Past experience using data to accurately measure performance and make decisions about progression and reward within your reporting line.
6. Strong business acumen and a clear understanding of the risk and revenue drivers that influence the creditworthiness of a loan application.
7. The ability to interpret & analyse financial statements.
8. Motivation to work in a regularly changing and fast paced environment.
9. Excellent communication skills. You will have direct telephone contact with our customers, daily interaction within credit whilst decisioning and regular contact with other teams on cross functional initiatives.
10. An analytical mindset with a practical approach to problem solving. You come up with innovative and scalable solutions to day-to-day problems and suggest changes to processes to improve efficiency.
Don’t take this list as prescriptive: it’s just to give you a sense of who might do well at the job. We’d still love to hear from you if you don’t hit every point on the list, or if you have other experience.
