Main duties of the job
You will have adegree/diploma in Paramedicine or equivalent experience, working towards developingmasters level, be at least a Band 6 & registeredwith the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Being a prescriber is desirable but not a requirement, we would support those wishing to become a prescriber.
Your role will be a supportiverole, working in tandem with our team of Paramedics, GPs & other Clinicalstaff within the PCN to deliver health services. You will be part of an MDT assessing & triaging patients which will include same day triage, home visits for our houseboundpatients, working with our Duty Doctor team & as appropriate providing definitivetreatment or referring to other Primary Care team members.
You will be able toperform specialist health checks & reviews including supporting the deliveryof anticipatory care plans & leading community services, perform/interpretECGS, perform investigatory procedures as required & undertake the collectionof pathological specimens
You will be advisingon general health care, promoting self-management & signposting where appropriate.
You will be an effective & proactive communicator with all colleagues & attend/contribute to all meetingsincluding working with our complex care team. You will be an effectivecommunicator with patients & family members where appropriate, maintaining accurate & contemporaneous patient health care records, necessary documentation & paperwork as appropriate to the consultation.

Attenborough Surgery is a training Practice with GP registrars& Medical students, as well as in house teaching and a team of SalariedGPs, First Contact Physiotherapist, Clinical Pharmacists, Social Prescriber anddietitian as well as an award-winning team of Mental Health Workers.
We are a large Practice of 30K+ patients, and you would beworking across all 4 sites which use the same EMIS IT system and phone system.All sites are within 15minutes driveof each other around Watfordand our Main Site, Bushey, is a new purpose-built Medical Centre.
Easy access from Hertfordshire orNorth London- 5 mins from Junction 5 of the M1. Parking on all sites,with a dedicated space when working at Bushey in our underground carpark.

Job responsibilities
The role will involve working as an autonomous, accountableParamedic, in the provision of a holistic approach for individuals includingassessment, diagnosis and treatment to deliver quality patient services.
Main Duties of the Job:
1. Assess and triage patients, including same day triage,and as appropriate provide definitive treatment or make necessary referrals toother members of the practice team.
2. Advise patients on general healthcare and promoteself-management where appropriate, including signposting patients to othercommunity or voluntary services and to self-care.
3. Be able to:
i. perform specialist health checks and reviews
ii. perform and interpret ECGs; alongside other results asappropriate
iii. perform investigatory procedures as required
iv. undertake the collection of pathological specimensincluding intravenous blood samples, swabs, etc.
v. perform investigatory procedures needed by patients andthose requested by GPs and the wider PCN
4. Support the delivery of anticipatory care and end of lifecare plans and lead certain community services ( monitoring blood pressureand diabetes risk of elderly patients living in sheltered housing).
5. The post holder will use advanced clinical skills toprovide education to patients and service users, promoting self-care andempower them to make informed choices about their treatment.
6. The post holder will perform any other clinical andclinical administrative duties where trained and determined safe to do so bythe organisation. This may include assisting with medical reports,safeguarding, and clinic support.
Prescribe, issue and review medications as appropriatefollowing policy, patient group directives, NICE (national) and local clinicalguidelines and local carepathways. This will be done in accordance withevidence-based practice and national and practice protocols, and within scopeof practice relevant if possesses prescribing qualification only- NOTESSENTIAL.
Qualifications:
Essential:
BSc in a training programme approved by the College ofParamedics Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration able tooperate at an advanced level of clinical practice
Educated to degree/diploma level in Paramedicine orequivalent experience.
Registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council(HCPC).
Completed two-year Consolidation of Learning period as anewly qualified paramedic.
Have a further three years experience as a band 6 (orequivalent) paramedic and is working towards developing Level 7 capability inparamedic areas of practice and, within six months of the commencement ofreimbursement (or longer time period as agreed with the commissioner), havecompleted and been signed off formally within the clinical pillar competenciesof the Advanced Clinical Practice Framework.
Desirable:
Pre-reg MSc in a training programme approved by the Collegeof Paramedics non-medical prescribing qualification.
