Buro Happold is looking to recruit an individual to head our Manchester office’s Infrastructure discipline Type of contract Permanent Grade Associate Director Area of Expertise Cities Region UK Office / Project Location Manchester Ref No 8398 This role will focus on having responsibility for overseeing technical and financial performance of a diverse range of multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects in the UK and occasional involvement on international projects also. Our Infrastructure team works on some of the Practice's most interesting and challenging master planning and infrastructure schemes. Examples worked on include regeneration projects such as Mayfield, Middlewood Locks and The Factory. World class sports stadia such as the Everton Stadium and its transformation, the new Manchester Co-Op Arena, and venues across the world. Your next role: Be part of an exceptional team that embraces technically demanding projects and challenges Be at the forefront of changes in the industry such as reducing embodied carbon and modern methods of infrastructure design. Key Duties: Managing the delivery of multidisciplinary projects, with technical inputs from numerous disciplines, including transport, water, infrastructure, environment, energy, sustainability, and building engineers. Developing and maintaining work winning relationships in the region to support future project pipeline including preparing bid submissions and fee proposals. Balancing demands and priorities, whilst reviewing civil infrastructure design, from project proposition through to construction. Plan project resources and finances and monitor job financial performance. The management of technical staff, with responsibility for planning team workload, as well as assisting and mentoring staff where needed, and developing more junior team members. Identifying opportunities to grow the team and bring new skills into the team. Preparing and reviewing technical reports, specification and schedules. Your Skills and Experience: Experience of successful multidisciplinary project delivery; demonstrating both the ability to manage and motivate the team, as well as excellent communication and presentation skills. Experience of delivering transport and mobility led projects would be an advantage A track record of winning work in the North-West region and an understanding of the market and key collaborators. Technical background in infrastructure design, with a demonstrable track record of leading infrastructure design or specialist discipline (Highways, utilities or Sustainable Drainage). A willingness to travel, and desire to lead continuous quality improvement in our work. A Member of a relevant professional institution.
