As Trainee International Buyer you’ll report directly into the Head of Buying for a leading, award-winning food manufacturer that supplies high-quality food products to the major UK Retail, Foodservice and Food Manufacturers.

My client is an independently owned food business and has over 40 years’ experience. They supply high-quality ambient foods in both their own label and premium brands to major retailers and foodservice customers. With an international presence, they operate in 20 countries, buying from 50 factories and have been awarded the Sustainability Champion title by Tesco.
Day to day you’ll be responsible for sourcing and procuring a range of products worldwide, you’ll be maintaining expert knowledge of assigned product groups including raw material pricing and availability, economic factors and supply chain security issues.
You’ll be keeping a constant check on stock levels, collaborating with Sales, Technical, and suppliers regarding New Product Development and researching the market and/or new markets as required in order to extend and improve the company’s product ranges.
To be considered you’ll need a 2:1 degree or above in Business, Economics or similar and have a commercial mindset with strong analytical, numerical and communication abilities with a second language in French or Spanish (advantageous) or 12 months+ proven experience in the procurement function for a UK food manufacturer.
