Role
As a Global Director of Engineering, you sit within the senior leadership team, and will be responsible for developing and overseeing the technical roadmap for all things engineering, ensuring it aligns with our company goals. Working for our fast-growing, complex organisation, you will need to demonstrate your technical experience in software design/architecture, development, testing and deployment. As a member of the senior leadership team, you will be contributing to the business at a strategic level whilst playing a hands-on role in the delivery of all technical initiatives. The right candidate will lead from the front, thinking outside of the box for best solutions!
Requirements
What you will be doing
* Scale up skills: You will be expected to have experience rapidly growing and leading engineering teams.
* Lead from the front: Hands-on experience and ability to write functional and maintainable code; able to articulate and demonstrate how to use software development techniques and methods to deliver new solutions. Alongside designing clear and stable architecture with Microservices.
* Collaboration: As part of the C-suite, we would expect you and your technology leaders to continue to enhance our technology roadmap for the evolution of our product.
* Organised superstar: Be able to self-organise, collaborate and manage efforts with peers and teams across responsibility areas, different geographical locations and time zones.
* Strategic Thinker: You will manage the technological functions of the business and client strategies - consulting, creating project plans, managing implementation, acting as a liaison to communicate across teams, and being the driving force of execution and support.
* Mission Focused: See a problem or opportunity, take ownership and act on it.
About You
* Minimum of 8+ years in a leadership position (Ideally from a Software engineering background focusing on C#/.NET) building and leading multiple teams of minimum 30 engineers.
* MUST have fintech background experience (Nice to have Exchange/ Broker / Trading Focus).
* Deep understanding of Microservice architecture.
* Experience with the core design of a high-performance, high concurrency, high available and high scalable system; be able to complete related design independently.
* Proven leadership and role model qualities within larger and start-up/scale up businesses.
* Excellent communication skills; both written and oral, has attention to detail and holds strong strategic and problem-solving skills.
* Outstanding problem solver.
* Strong ability to work in the very fast-paced start-up environment.
* Ideally you must have a BSc or above (degree educated).
