We have a rare opportunity to recruit a Commercial Manager to head our Process & Water sector. Based at our Head Office in Southampton, the Commercial Manager will oversee the full commercial function for all of our water and process clients. Work comprises Mechanical, Electrical & Civil Engineering works on both clean and dirty water contracts, with a combined portfolio of £85m - £90m per annum, predominantly using NEC suite of contracts & IChemE.
Reporting to the Director of Process & Water and working closely with the Commercial Director, duties include but are not limited to:
1. Manage a team of Quantity Surveyors across three office locations throughout the South of England.
2. Provide leadership and guidance to the Process & Water commercial teams.
3. Establish and maintain productive relationships with clients’ teams.
4. Oversee contract management and administration, including change management and assessing cost implications of proposed changes.
5. Maintain control of cash flow and expenditure.
6. Prepare commercial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
7. Collaborate with the Planning Manager to ensure successful programme management.
8. Support and advise delivery teams on commercial matters, working closely with Operations Managers and Framework Directors.
9. Oversee finalisation of contractor accounts and contract close-outs.
10. Handle dispute resolution, including reviewing contractor and supplier claims.
11. Contribute commercial input to tender documentation.
12. Review all instructions for potential cost implications.
Desired Skills / Background:
1. RICS or equivalent qualification.
2. BSc in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management, or equivalent experience.
3. Extensive commercial experience, particularly in a Commercial Manager role.
4. Experience within the water & process sector.
5. Knowledge of NEC Suite of Contracts.
6. Strong negotiation skills and relationship-building abilities.
7. Proven leadership and motivational skills for managing teams.
8. Legal, contractual, and construction knowledge.
