Annex 21
Applicants who do not meet the essential criteria will be considered under the Annex 21 training programme, where whilst undergoing training, they will be paid at 75% of the top of Band 3 and on completion of training will then move on to Band 3 scale.
The Role
NHS Lanarkshire are looking to recruit a Clinical Support Worker - Theatres. As part of a multidisciplinary team, the Clinical Support Worker will carry out care duties for patients, in support of a registered nurse/Operating Department practitioner (ODP) and will regularly work unsupervised but with the wider theatre team available for reference at all times. You will also carry out assigned duties involving direct and indirect patient care within the theatre environments and will be required to perform physical/technical/emotional aspects of patient care in an efficient, effective and responsible manner with accuracy in a busy environment.
What we'll need you to bring
1. SVQ III in peri-operative care or working towards or equivalent - peri operative experience.
2. SVQ III in healthcare, or working towards, or equivalent experience working within a caring environment/role.
3. Applicants with no previous clinical healthcare experience will be treated in accordance with Annex 21 Arrangements for Pay and Banding of Trainees.
Initial induction period of up to 3 months, followed by a period of training and consolidation to achieve full competency across a range of specialties within 12 months following induction.
* Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary/agency team.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to carry out assigned patient care tasks effectively within a busy environment.
* Ability to work unsupervised.
* To actively participate in the Personal Development Plan process to fulfil the requirements of continuing professional development.
* Working knowledge of basic information technology.
It would be great if you also have
* Experience of working within the Theatre environment.
* Knowledge and understanding of the role and working within a Theatre setting.
* IT skills.
