Job summary Critical Care at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is provided across three Intensive Care Units at three hospital sites in West London (Charing Cross, Hammersmith, and St Mary's Hospital). We are seeking candidates with expert knowledge to lead, maintain, and develop our nursing rosters. This position involves working alongside a team of experienced Critical Care nurses and support staff who oversee our services and uphold a high standard of care. The Critical Care Nurse Staffing Manager is a key team member and will produce monthly e-rosters for the Trust's Critical Care unit, following local processes and ensuring safe staffing and skill mix. They must publish compliant and efficient rosters at least 8 weeks in advance and manage roster and annual leave requests per Trust policy. We seek candidates who can implement change effectively and motivate others while generating ideas. As a Roster Manager, you will have close contact with various key stakeholders both within and outside of our department. Main duties of the job The primary responsibilities are to develop monthly rosters for each unit based on specific requirements and ensure that these rosters are both efficient and compliant with established workforce Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Additionally, it involves overseeing staff annual planning to ensure that leave requests align with unit availability and that staff schedule their leave appropriately. Collaboration with unit nursing leaders is essential inmaintaining safe staffing levels for each shift, addressing any gaps with temporary staff as needed. There is also a need to work with nursing leads to model and implement effective nursing rosters, ensuring that worked hours, service needs, and training requirements are all met. Persuading, negotiating, and motivating nursing staff to accept necessary changes while incorporating their interests and ideas into service planning and developments is crucial. This role includes setting up roster accounts for new hires and ensuring their proper integration into the system. Supporting practice development nurses with staff induction timetables and rostering is another key function. Assisting unit managers in recording the competency compliance of temporary staff on the roster system is part of the job. Lastly, working closely with the nursing leadership team to provide administrative support for nursing recruitment requires close collaboration with Human Resources (HR), recruitment teams, and unit leads.
