Main duties of the job
You will be an effective member of the Vascular Lab team ensuring a high-quality, accessible, and efficient service. To provide a comprehensive diagnostic and evaluative duplex ultrasound service to referring consultants and clinicians as appropriate, for patients suffering from peripheral vascular disease, lower limb ischemia, venous, and carotid disease.

Job responsibilities
1. To ensure that clinical standards in vascular sonography are maintained.
2. To ensure that the scanning of patients is carried out as quickly as possible, consistent with keeping to the standard required and that the patients are sent home or to other departments with the least possible delay.
3. Advise clinicians on interpretation of results. Recommend to clinicians further investigations or urgent review by Vascular Surgeons, where appropriate.
4. Advice and counsel patients on both normal and distressing test results/conclusions.
5. To adhere to departmental policies and keep up-to-date with developments in vascular technology, to attend courses and seminars as necessary.
6. To assist the Lead Vascular Scientist with the organisation and supervision of junior staff in the department.
Person Specification
Qualifications
1. HCPC registered & Practised as a Registered Biomedical Scientist.
2. A Biomedical Science Degree or equivalent.
3. MSc in Vascular Ultrasound from a CASE accredited University training programme.
4. Society of Vascular Technology (SVT) accreditation.
5. Previous proven NHS experience in vascular ultrasound scanning post qualification/accreditation.
