We are looking for a Technical Lead to join our community of tech experts in DWP Digital.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?
* Experience of leading engineering teams providing technical leadership and guidance, and coaching and mentoring to support team member development opportunities.
* Experience in modern software engineering for digital products (ideally Java, microservice architectures, Hexagonal software architecture, Mongo and Kafka) and designing and implementing modern cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and automation (ideally AWS, Terraform, GitLab CI, Jenkins).
* Experience of engineering best practice in version control, secure design practices, assurance.
* Collaboration, sharing of knowledge and good practice with the wider software engineering community.
* Working and leading in a complex, multi-disciplinary environment, delivering products within specific timescales and engaging with multiple stakeholders.
You and your role
As a Technical Lead, you will be at the forefront of DWP technical ambitions during a phase of real technical change in our Working Age team. Our goal is simplify processes and use the best tech, tooling and automation to deliver a more accurate, efficient and effective service/
So, you'll set the direction and drive tech-led innovation and improvements in essential digital services which are used by millions of UK citizens.
You'll be accountable for the day-to-day product development and coordination of multiple technical teams, giving technical input into business discussions using your deep technical experience in areas such as software development, site reliability engineering, DevOps, and solution architecture.

Location: You'll join us in one of our brilliant digital hubs in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds or Newcastle, whichever is most convenient for you.
Hybrid Working: We work a hybrid model - you'll spend some time working at home and some time collaborating face to face in a hub.
Pay: We offer competitive pay of up to £78,517.
Pension: You'll get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97%, worth up to £20,714 per year.
Holidays: A generous leave package starting at 26 days rising to 31 days over time.
You can also take up to 3 extra days off a month on flexi-time. You'll also get all the usual public holidays.
