This is an exciting time to join Chestnut Tree clinical team whilst we are undergoing service transformation and development. We are investing in a wide range of roles within the clinical team to support our outreach and engagement with children, young people and families.
Main duties of the job
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and passionate Senior Nurse to provide Children Young People (CYPs) palliative care as part of a multi-disciplinary team, working in Chestnut Tree care team. Children’s palliative care involves delivering short respite breaks aimed at having fun and living well with life-limited conditions as well as end of life care.
We have a mixture of paediatric nurses, adult nurses and learning disability nurses working in the in-house team. As a Senior Nurse, you will line manage a small team of junior nurses and care support workers, and demonstrate the ability to lead and inspire to ensure the provision of excellent clinical care.
The post holder will also have opportunities, if desired, to develop in and support community short breaks in children and young people's homes. We are striving for excellence and have new workstreams to support transition, end of life care, learning disabilities, patient experience and patient safety. The post holder will have the opportunity to develop skills and contribute to these areas of development.
Due to the remote location and lack of public transport, access to your own transport is essential.

Job description Job responsibilities
As an in-house Senior Nurse at Chestnut Tree House, you will provide leadership and support to the team whilst delivering specialist palliative care to the children, young people and their families on our caseload including respite provision and end of life care.
Person Specification Experience Essential
* At least 2 years relevant experience in a band 5 registered nursing role including palliative care/nursing children with life threatening and life limiting conditions.
* Excellent clinical skills and knowledge and a full set of up to date clinical competencies.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, transferable within a range of professional and family situations.
* Ability to plan and deliver safe and effective clinical care in collaboration with parents/carers/young people.
* Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
* Good organisational, planning and time management skills, and ability to adapt and reprioritise at short notice based on the immediate needs of our children/young people and families.
* Ability to critically analyse research and promote and disseminate relevant findings in practice.
* Mentorship qualification or equivalent.
* Experience in supporting students on placement as a supervisor or practice assessor.
* Competent IT skills.
