The Role
As Transport Dispatch Coordinator you will provide support to your colleagues and the Dispatch Supervisor, cover in their absence and help to maintain a safe, efficient, reliable and cost effective delivery and collection service for the Company and our customers. You will also help to oversee a team of Drivers and delivery partners/contractors to ensure a high standard of customer satisfaction, always delivering a high level of competence and accuracy.
Key responsibilities:
1. Daily scheduling, routing and use of relevant transport/warehousing systems
2. Problem solving relating to delivery issues
3. Arranging of agency staff as and when required
4. Promote and help to ensure compliance with transport policies, procedures and legislation (e.g. Tachygraphs, Drivers Hours and Working Time Directive rules)
5. Monitor and report the activities of delivery partners/contractors to ensure continuity of service, service standards and behaviours escalating issues when necessary
6. Liaising with the Transport, Customer Services, Contractors and delivery bookings teams daily to plan, organise and manage the routing of deliveries and collections to meet the requirements of the business and our customers
7. Be pro-active in developing operational improvements, focusing on cost reductions and customer satisfaction, and embrace any changes that are implemented with a positive attitude
About You
To be considered as a Despatch Coordinator, you will ideally have:
1. Experience working within a transport function
2. Ability to work effectively under pressure to achieve deadlines and objectives
3. Excellent communication skills
4. At a minimum, five GCSEs or equivalent at level 4 / Grade C or above including Maths and English
