Job title: Principal Engineer – Mechanical/Platform Systems Location : Broadoak, Frimley or Filton (Hybrid working with occasional travel to Barrow-in-Furness when required) Salary: £45,628 to £57,500 per annum What you’ll be doing: Progressing the design, as a system owner, for a selection (not all, skill set dependant) of the Simulated Environment Mechanical/Platform Systems; Breathing Air, Gas Systems, Compressed Air, Chilled Water, HVAC, Ballast Tank, SAN & Fresh Water Develop the system design for its lifecycle; Conceptual Architecture, Logical Architecture, Solution Design, Solution Implementation, Integration & Verification, Validation & Acceptance, In-service Operation & Support, Service Withdrawal & Disposal Understand the associated system requirements for the Simulated Environment and its facility dependencies Demonstrate a high level of understanding for both ducted and piped services design and integration for this type of facility Experience in Part L, BREEAM, CIBSE, BCO and Building regulations Responsible for leading; Sub-contractor management and selection, System curriculum creation, Factory Acceptance Testing, Installation Inspections, Testing and Commissioning, Facility Handover Activities Potential for line management and development responsibilities for less senior team-members. Management of internal and external interfaces, such as Engineering Authorities, Human Factors, regulatory bodies, sub-contractors is expected Your skills and experiences: Essential Knowledge of RIBA Construction phases Building Services qualifications up to degree level Extensive experience as a lead engineer in HVAC Building Services projects, especially commercial, manufacturing, and data centre experience Previous Naval experience of developing new hybrid HVAC/Mech systems and equipment Management of Sub-contractors, Commissioning Management and Project Management experience Member Level Profession Accreditation MIET or equivalent Desirable Chartered engineer (or actively working toward this) Previous experience as a HVAC/Mech Lead engineer working for both major building services consultancies and contractors Previous Naval HVAC/Mech systems design and installation packages Previous experience of developing HVAC equipment with OEM’s Benefits: You’ll receive benefits including a competitive pension scheme, enhanced annual leave allowance and a Company contributed Share Incentive Plan. The Team: The team has two main requirements, initially you will be a HVAC/Mechanical lead design engineer for the Simulated Environment team, focusing on the design and construction of the new training/testing facility, once the facility is up and running you will then assist in developing the HVAC/Mechanical systems that will be required with the Simulated Environment.
