We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Salaried GP to join our dynamic PCN team, working alongside five practices within Northern Parishes Primary Care Network (PCN). This role offers a unique opportunity to experience both PCN level working and practice working, providing high-quality GP-related activities and contributing to the delivery of exceptional patient care.
You will be within 2 years of GP qualification and will have the opportunity to enjoy a fulfilling role as a member of our team. We will consider applications for between 6-8 sessions, with a start date of as soon as possible.
This post will be employed through the Network Contract DES initially on a fixed term contract up until 31 March 2026, which may be extended subject to ongoing availability of ARRS funding.
The salary will be up to £9,150 per session.
Main duties of the job
The GP will undertake a variety of duties governed by the GMS contract and objectives of Enhanced services including:
* In person consultations
* Telephone consultations
* Visiting patients in nursing homes and supporting Individualised Advanced Care Plans and End of Life care.
* Supporting and optimising CVD prevention in the wider Northern Parishes population alongside Prescribing Clinical Pharmacist team.
* Checking and signing repeat prescriptions
* Dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence as required
* Offering clinical support to other ARRS colleagues, helping the team meet high standards in patient care.
* You will be supported within practices by experienced GPs who will provide mentorship and clinical support.

Employment will be with Out of Hours West Lancashire CIC Limited (OWLS). We host roles on behalf of the three West Lancashire Primary Care Networks (PCNs) and their member practices.
Northern Parishes PCN - brings together five practices with a combined list size of 29,796.
Ormskirk PCN - brings together four practices with a combined list size of 29,927.
Skelmersdale PCN - brings together six practices with a combined list size of 57,705.
OWLS is a small GP owned and led not-for-profit primary care organisation run by GPs and health professionals. As a not-for-profit organisation, all the money we generate through service contracts is reinvested in providing patient care.
We were founded in the 90s by a small group of GPs to provide high quality out of hours services. In 2017, we became the West Lancashire GP Federation. The Federation supports and provides services for West Lancashire GP practices and provides a vehicle to bid for and provide innovative primary care services.

Job responsibilities
* Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the PCN or practice.
* Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
* Cover all the clinical management of the patients as appropriate including initiating investigations, reviewing results, making referrals to secondary care or to other providers as appropriate.
* Develop care and treatment plans in consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols as well as wider guidance such as that from NICE.
* Ensure appropriate follow up of patients.
* Record clear and contemporaneous computerised consultation notes to agreed standards.
* Participate in clinical audits, learning event analyses, and practice meetings.
* Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions avoiding hand-written prescriptions.
* Prescribe generically whenever appropriate and in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary, NICE guidance, and Good Prescribing Practice (as defined by British National Formulary guidance).
* Work with and provide support for other members of the PCN or practice team.
* Play a lead role in the PCN or practice, achieving agreed and other key performance indicator targets.

* The applicant must be a qualified GP with full GMC registration licence to practice, on a performers list and have a UK drivers licence.
* Experience of working in a GP practice using EMIS.
