Worker required for a 15-year-old male with autism and additional needs. They are very sporty and love to play football; they speak Portuguese and English. They can take a long time to form a bond with individuals due to their communication needs. They are very caring, and once a bond has been built with them, a worker can have a very fun and productive relationship.
The worker in question would have to be very fun and have a sporty personality, willing to partake in a lot of sports-based activities due to the young person’s interests. They would also have to be very patient and willing to aid the young person in improving their communication skills, helping them access the community, and building their relations within it. The worker would also have to be lively and motivated due to the young person’s need for a lot of stimulation.

* Settling and supporting the individual.
* Keeping them safe in the community.
* Helping to fulfill their potential and aspirations.
* Attending/transporting the individual to social activities and appointments.
* Encouraging social interaction and inclusion and providing emotional support.

The suitable candidate must:
* Be conscientious and committed to providing support as necessary for the child.
* Be patient, caring, and understanding.
* Be able to build a positive relationship with the child to both encourage and support them.
* Be flexible to meet the needs of the family.
* Have knowledge of working with or supporting a child with special needs.
Children and Young People, Specialist Services Direct Payments is an in-house service provided by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council to support families of Children and Young People with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities to fulfill their potential and aspirations.
While caring experience is always useful, you don’t necessarily need to have worked in care to be a great Direct Payment Worker; the right attitude and a person-centered approach are more important.

Some travel across East Riding of Yorkshire may be required; applicants must be able to transport themselves.
