They are currently working on a large-scale, 350+ unit residential development in Southampton, which presents a unique and complex set of challenges. This is a distressed site, requiring an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor who excels in problem-solving and can bring structure, control, and commercial expertise to the project.
About the Role
This is a permanent opportunity for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to take ownership of the commercial management of a challenging residential project. With two years remaining on the scheme, this role offers long-term stability, a highly competitive salary, and the chance to make a significant impact in delivering a successful outcome.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Take full commercial responsibility for the project, ensuring profitability and cost control.
* Identify and resolve complex issues related to cost, procurement, and programme.
* Work closely with the site team to manage budgets and financial reporting.
* Conduct risk analysis and mitigation strategies.
* Lead negotiations with subcontractors and suppliers.
* Prepare and review valuations, variations, and final accounts.
* Ensure compliance with contracts and commercial best practices.
* Provide strategic input to improve project efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Requirements
* Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on large-scale residential projects.
* Strong problem-solving skills and experience handling complex project challenges.
* Ability to work on a distressed site, implementing commercial strategies to improve project outcomes.
* Expertise in cost control, contract management, and procurement.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Strong understanding of JCT contracts and relevant construction regulations.
