Brief Description
You will play a vital role in sustaining the continuous operation of our nation's transportation system on a daily basis. Maintaining the rail network is an integral aspect of our work. As a technician, you will collaborate with a team outdoors, providing crucial support to ensure the railway functions safely and efficiently for both passengers and freight users.
You will be an essential part of a skilled group, conducting maintenance tasks and troubleshooting issues across a broad spectrum of equipment, including mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
Previous experience working within this area of the industry is a key requirement of this role.
Please Note: There may be a requirement to work on call in this role if you opt to take the GTRM IMC25 contract
About the role (External)
S&T Technicians provide the essential support for the team leader and the teams operatives. As a Technician at Bletchley Signal and Telecoms you will work on equipment based on the West Coast Mainline, and critical links between Bletchley Bedford and the newly opened East west rail line between Bletchley and Bicester.
Youll be working with equipment including signals, level crossings, points systems, and control systems. With your willingness to learn, youll develop a huge range of technical skills across a range of manual, electrical and digital equipment.
Technicians strive to obtain an IRSE license, which holds recognition not only within our industry but also on an international level.
Our technicians work outside in all conditions, at all times of the year, day or night. You could be involved in demanding manual work, often with the need to transport kit, across tricky terrain. Being safety focused, respectful of rules and a team player will be critical as youll often be working next to moving trains travelling at high speed.

* Shifts Technician roles involve a changing shift pattern including days, nights and weekends.
* Outdoor working - Our technicians work outside in all weathers and so youll be comfortable working in different conditions.
* Safe working - Offers of employment are subject to drug and alcohol testing and passing of the relevant medical assessment and BPSS pre-employment checks. This will include a hearing and eyesight examination.
* Driving - As a technician youll also need a driving licence (category B) so you can drive Network Rail vehicles.
Commute times - Youll also need to be within a 60-minute commute of the location that youre applying for.
