About the Role:
As a Science Instructor at GSL Education, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and interactive science lessons across key stages, ensuring students develop a strong understanding of scientific concepts, practical skills and critical thinking. You will work closely with the school’s science department to create a stimulating learning environment that encourages students to explore scientific principles and experiment in practical settings.
Key Responsibilities of the Science Instructor:
* Deliver engaging and comprehensive lessons in Science, focusing on both theoretical knowledge and practical experimentation.
* Develop and implement lesson plans that cater to students’ varied learning needs and abilities, ensuring high levels of engagement and achievement.
* Ensure the safe and efficient use of scientific equipment during practical lessons and experiments, adhering to health and safety regulations.
* Monitor and assess student progress, providing timely feedback and ensuring all students are supported in reaching their academic potential.
* Promote scientific enquiry, encouraging students to question, hypothesise and apply their knowledge to real-world scenarios.
* Support students with additional needs and ensure an inclusive approach to teaching and learning.
* Collaborate with other science faculty members and school staff to enhance the curriculum and share best practices.
* Maintain accurate records of student performance and provide regular reports to parents and the leadership team.
Requirements of the Science Instructor:
* A relevant degree in a Science-related subject (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or General Science) or a closely related field.
* Proven experience in delivering Science instruction at the secondary level, with a solid understanding of the national curriculum.
* A passion for science and a genuine desire to inspire students to engage with scientific learning and practical exploration.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents and colleagues.
* The ability to effectively manage a classroom and create a disciplined yet engaging learning environment.
* A commitment to the holistic development of students, fostering their intellectual curiosity and promoting lifelong learning.
* A proactive approach to professional development and an eagerness to contribute to the development of the science department.
* Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
