Job Summary
We are inviting applications from both current band 5 therapists, and those who are due to complete their Undergraduate Degree this summer or Masters Degree later in the year to join us in the Children's Speech and Language Therapy Team. We are in the second phase of our service redesign where our key success factors have been determined by the staff, and key performance indicators and the model of service delivery by the staff, partners, and parents of children with SLCN and EDS working together.
The successful applicants will join an enthusiastic and friendly team of Children's Therapists, Assistants and Administrators with systems in place for NQP and Preceptorship support. As a successful applicant you will be committed to providing high quality care and sharing your innovative ideas for service delivery. It is essential to us that you enjoy coming to work and feel satisfied with the difference you are making to children and young people's development and skills. A process for career progression from Band 5 to Band 6 will be offered through the RCSLT competency framework.
Main duties of the job
* To provide, with appropriate support, as an autonomous practitioner in Speech and Language Therapy, assessment, diagnosis and evidence-based treatment for service users and to liaise with and refer on to other health, education and social care providers as appropriate.
* To work as a member of the community service, contribute to its development and provide multidisciplinary functions (within the post holders sphere of competence) to service users in any setting required by the service.
* To develop the post holders' own professional practice by keeping abreast of clinical developments and responding to available evidence.
* To provide face to face / remote coaching, training, information and advice to parents and other practitioners.
Qualifications
* Holds recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree or equivalent.
* Holds Health Professions Council license to practice as a Speech and Language Therapist.
* Registered member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
Experience
* Experience at under or post graduate level of using a range of tests and assessment techniques.
* Experience at under or post graduate level of using a range of intervention approaches across different settings.
* Experience of data gathering methodology and data analysis.
* Experience at an under or post graduate level in working with parents and other professionals.
Knowledge and Skills
* Demonstrate knowledge of relevant speech, language, communication assessments, interventions and techniques how to evaluate their relevance and effectiveness.
* Demonstrate an awareness of recent developments in practice and research including National guidance.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills for a wide audience of children and adults.
* Excellent analytical and reflective skills.
* Excellent organisation, negotiation and problem solving skills.
Other
* Able to meet the travel requirements of the job.
