Playcentre Aotearoa are on the hunt for an effective communicator with a passion for Early Childhood Education.
The Centre Advisor provides advice and support to our centres. They are the link between centres and regional management, ensuring statutory regulations are met and the needs of our whānau and tamariki are supported.
The Centre Advisor supports centres by:
* Providing advice and support to 7 Playcentres from Taupiri to Cambridge
* Role modelling and encouraging implementation of Playcentre philosophy and good practice in centres
* Leading preparation for Ministry of Education Review Office visits
* Ensuring that day to day actions are carried out to support compliance with statutory requirements
* Promoting the health of each centre
* Managing centre-based employees and liaising with the Regional Office and the centre
No two days are the same! A day in the life of a Centre Advisor role might see you visiting a centre, checking in with staff and the wonderful whānau, identifying any needs they may have and providing advice and guidance where necessary. You’ll interact with tamariki, role model Playcentre philosophy and good ECE practice, while being supported by the Regional Team and receiving regular PLD.

The Centre Advisor is responsible for 7 Playcentres from Taupiri to Cambridge
Days & hours:
Monday - Friday for 26.25 hours per week within the hours of 9.00am - 2.45pm (including 30min unpaid break). This is a fixed term position ending 31 August 2025
The ideal candidate will:
Hold a Playcentre Course 3 or above or ECE L4 and above and demonstrates a knowledge and understanding of either Playcentre or ECE environments.
You will bring:
* Excellent relationship management skills – proven ability to interact effectively and confidently with a range of stakeholders
* Sound judgement, a great work ethic and ability to work independently
* Flexibility and the ability to deal with issues as they arise
* Knowledge of Te Whāriki, ECE curriculum, Early Childhood Education legislation, and MOE licensing criteria
* An understanding of te ao Māori, including an appreciation of mātauranga Māori, tikanga Māori and te reo Māori.
* An understanding of the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how they relate to Playcentre
* Well-developed influencing skills which support achievement of effective outcomes
* Computer literacy and experience with Microsoft Office
* Intelligence, an inquisitive mind, a can-do attitude, and a good sense of humour
* Accuracy and attention to detail as well as the ability to see the whole picture. An ease of being in a leadership role with honesty, discretion, sensitivity, self-discipline, and resilience
