Main Duties of the Job:
The successful post holder will be expected to provide excellent patient-centred care across a broad range of specialities, utilising evidence-based practice to ensure the best of care is provided to patients.
Our Band 6 Physiotherapy rotation specialities are currently:
* Critical Care
* Surgical
* Orthopaedics (Trauma and Elective)
* Front Door (ED & Acute Assessment Units/Short Stay Wards)
* Acute Frailty
* Respiratory Support Unit and Cardiorespiratory/GenMed
* Older Persons
* Paeds and Pelvic Health
* Sheppey Frailty Unit - ME12 3LT
As a Senior Physiotherapist, you will ensure that you are an effective member of our integrated team, being proactive in your approach to your own learning and development and supporting other members of the team to do the same.
Supporting other therapy teams/services within the Trust may be required at times.
The role will involve evening and weekend working.
In addition, you will be an active member of the emergency On Call Physiotherapy rota.

Job Responsibilities:
1. To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work including responsibility for an allocated patient caseload/workload.
2. To undertake assessment of patients including those with diverse and complex presentations and conditions: using clinical reasoning skills and assessment techniques to formulate individualised treatment plans and programmes.
3. To deliver individualised physiotherapy treatment programmes using a broad range of physiotherapeutic skills in individual and group settings.
4. To continually reassess patient progress, adapting treatment plans accordingly, and developing discharge plans.
5. To refer patients appropriately to other health and social care services according to protocol providing timely and detailed information to ensure good continuity of care.
6. To communicate effectively with patients and carers and other health care professionals using a wide range of verbal and non-verbal communication tools to share assessment findings, agree treatment plans, progress rehabilitation, give advice, and teaching. This will include patients with communication and comprehension difficulties and those who may be unable to accept diagnosis/prognosis.
Person Specification:
Qualifications Essential:
* Diploma/degree in Physiotherapy
* Current Health Professions Council registration
* Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
* Post Graduate training e.g. courses, other CPD activities
Experience Essential:
* Broad range of experience at junior level including highly acute environments with high demand for prioritisation of workloads
* Experience of responding to demand / prioritising work / managing a caseload
* Supervision of Physiotherapy students / junior staff
Skills Essential:
* Good written and verbal communication skills
* Able to communicate clearly with other team members and patients/carers
* Teaching and presentation skills
* Basic IT skills
* Able to demonstrate a holistic approach to patient management
Values Based Question Essential:
* Give an example of a time where you have demonstrated a 'can do' attitude (including the situation you were in) and the outcome.
Knowledge Essential:
* Good knowledge of basis assessment and treatment of patients with neurological, musculoskeletal and respiratory conditions
* Knowledge of primary and secondary care services
