This role is based at Culham, Oxfordshire.
This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions.

We are looking for an experienced Radiation Protection Adviser to support the advice and guidance provided by other health physics practitioners, i.e., health physicists and health physics technicians, to ensure it is consistent with the requirements of IRR17, COSHH, and the EA Permits.
You will be a part of the larger HP Team and, as such, you will also be expected to provide advice and guidance to a range of personnel working on other programmes. In addition, you will participate in radiological document reviews and any improvements, as directed by the HP Group Manager.
To be successful in this role, you will have a thorough knowledge of the Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 (IRR17), Environmental Permitting Regulations (EPR16), and an awareness of other relevant regulations.
What will you be responsible for?
* Guiding on regulatory reporting and interface requirements in fulfilling UKAEA’s legal obligations.
* Ensuring that any advice or guidance given relating to matters set out in Schedule 4 of IRR17 is done so in accordance with UKAEA requirements and formally recorded for the purposes of audit.
* Providing advice on the safety issues associated with working with beryllium.
* Supporting the advice and guidance provided by other health physics practitioners.
* Main contributor to the functional management of radiological safety performance, monitoring, reporting, and cooperating with other UKAEA divisions and units.
Qualifications
Essential Requirements:
* Current certificate of competence to be a Radiation Protection Adviser is a MUST.
* Experience working on major projects as a technical lead and contract manager.
* Demonstrable experience in strategy and planning.
* Support a growth mindset culture through development of staff by mentoring colleagues and contributing to the creation/provision of training courses.
Desirable Requirements:
* Chartered status with a professional body (or equivalent demonstrable endorsement from peers).
* Member of the Society for Radiological Protection (SRP), Commercial Awareness, and evidence of delivering innovative solutions.
