Lead Nurse - Acute Medicine
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Acute Medicine Nursing leadership team.
The post will be to support the Matron and ward teams throughout the directorate and is an excellent opportunity to develop leadership skills.
We are looking for the post holder to be able to work effectively as part of a team. They should maintain a flexible approach to service needs and demands, be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines and remain tactful, diplomatic and compassionate working with a diverse workforce.

Main duties of the job
This is a key developmental role supporting the Matron in Acute Medicine to lead the overall nursing performance of the directorate. The post holder will support the achievement of all local, organisational and national targets and standards.
The post holder will provide visible leadership to staff within the directorate and ensure the delivery of agreed objectives and plans across the directorate's activities.

Job responsibilities
DELIVERING CLINICAL EXCELLENCE & CLINICAL STRATEGY
In agreement with the Matron, develop and implement clinical effectiveness programmes throughout the directorate and specifically for designated clinical areas.
Maintain a visible presence amongst clinical areas and teams.
Support the Matron in working with partner organisations and other stakeholders to design patient pathways and develop new models of care.
Monitor achievement & impact of Clinical Effectiveness programmes withinwards/departments.
Act for the Matron in their absence.
Clinical/health Outcomes
Work with the Matron for Acute Medicine to develop nursing performance clinical outcomes, monitor performance & hold Sisters and Charge nurses accountable for clinical outcomes for patients in their care.
Accountable for clinical outcomes associated with nursing care.
Work with Sisters/Charge nurses, ward link nurses and infection control champions to support the surveillance, auditing and implementation of National and Local guidelines and protocols, particularly those concerning infection control and privacy & dignity.
Undertake and review root cause analysis where required. Ensure action plans are developed, implemented and evaluated and that learning is shared throughout the directorate.
Assist in developing and implementing programmes of education.

Essential
* Professionally qualified and clinically credible with a post registration qualification
* Registered Nurse
* ENB 998/ Slice, C& G 730 or equivalent
* Educated to a minimum of 1st degree level
* Evidence of Leadership, management and specialty knowledge.
* Current NMC registration.
Desirable
* Postgraduate management/ further study qualification
Experience
Essential
* Understanding of Budget Management
* Experience of partnership working
* Experience of implementing effective change into a clinical setting
* Knowledge of recent clinical developments.
* Knowledge and understanding of clinical governance gained from experience of working with such systems
* Knowledge of audit process.
Desirable
* Experience of managing finance, workforce, quality within a clinical environment.
