We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our Domestic Services team as Patient Transport and Support Services Operatives. In this vital role, you will ensure the safe and efficient transfer of patients, specimens, medical equipment, and more throughout the hospital, all while upholding the dignity and comfort of our patients. Job Summary:The Patient Transport and Support Services Operative is crucial to the smooth operation of our hospital services, responsible for the transport of patients and items within the facility. Your work will directly contribute to patient care and hospital efficiency. Key Responsibilities: Patient Transport: Safely transfer patients to and from various hospital locations (wards, theatres, departments) using appropriate methods-walking, wheelchair, stretcher, or beds-while ensuring their comfort and safety. Specimen and Blood Transport: Safely convey specimens from wards to the Pathology department and transport emergency blood/specimens promptly to designated locations. Document and Equipment Handling: Deliver patient notes and x-rays between departments upon request, and transport medical equipment as needed. Deceased Body Handling: Handle the respectful transfer of deceased bodies from wards to the mortuary. Medical Gases and Drug Distribution: Assist in replacing medical gases and distributing pharmaceuticals from the pharmacy to the relevant wards and departments. Waste and Laundry Management: Manage clinical and non-clinical waste and laundry removal, accept and store linen deliveries, and prepare linen trolleys for transport. Catering and Curtain Management: Help transport catering trolleys and change curtains in wards as needed, participating in the periodic curtain change programme. Cleaning Duties: Perform cleaning tasks as required to maintain a hygienic environment. Safety and Compliance: Engage in safety communication, uphold health and safety standards, and work with the Group Health and Safety team to implement initiatives. Qualifications and Skills: Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety.Ability to handle sensitive situations with dignity and respect.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Capability to work both independently and as part of a team.Physical ability to perform the required duties.
