Job Description:
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Structural Engineer to lead our design and technical team in the role of Head of Engineering at Solarport. This role is focused on the design, analysis, and implementation of ground-mounted solar products. As a key leadership position, the Head of Engineering will ensure the technical integrity of our solar installations, while managing a multidisciplinary team of engineers and designers. The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving technical innovation, maintaining a strong focus on industry standards, and ensuring the team meets project requirements and company goals.
Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage a team of engineers and designers in the development of ground-mounted solar products, ensuring high performance, continuous learning, and professional development.
* Mentor and develop a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
* Oversee resource allocation, recruitment, and professional development to build a strong, efficient engineering department.
* Work cross-functionally with project management, manufacturing, and commercial teams to align engineering priorities with business goals.
* Design and analyse structural systems for ground-mounted solar arrays, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
* Conduct site assessments and surveys to evaluate soil conditions, topography, and other factors affecting structural design and installation.
* Generate detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations for structural components and foundations.
* Perform structural analysis using appropriate software tools to assess load capacities, stress levels, and overall performance of solar structures.
* Provide technical guidance and support to installation teams during the construction phase, addressing any structural challenges or issues that may arise.
* Conduct quality assurance checks and inspections to verify compliance with design specifications and industry standards.
* Stay updated on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in the field of solar energy and structural engineering.
Requirements:
* Master’s degree in civil engineering or structural engineering, or a related field.
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural engineering.
* Minimum of 2 years in a leadership or managerial role within the renewable energy sector (experience in solar is highly preferred).
* Proficiency in structural analysis software such as Dlubal RFEM 6, RWIND, Tekla Tedds or similar tools.
* Strong understanding of building codes, regulations, and standards related to structural design and construction.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD, drafting software, or similar tools for engineering design.
* Strong communication skills, capable of liaising effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
