Syngenta's Grangemouth Manufacturing Centre is one of our two award-winning manufacturing sites in the UK. The site was founded in 1919 and today employs nearly 400 skilled people in a variety of roles that include manufacturing, engineering, scientific and production support. Our goal is to operate “safely, reliably and cost effectively” and to help growers protect their crops and increase their yield.
At Syngenta Grangemouth we have four plants dedicated to active ingredient (AI) manufacture, and one finished product formulation and packaging plant with the most recent facility opening in May 2010.
Job Description
To complete a three-year Mechanical Engineering Modern Apprentice based at Grangemouth Manufacturing Centre.
Year 1
* Attend college to attain a National Certificate and a Performing Engineering Operations SVQ Level 2.
Years 2 – 3
* Attend college day release as directed to study and attain a Higher National Certificate(s) in assigned engineering discipline(s).
* On site, shadow competent Engineering Technicians in order to attain SVQ Level 3(s) in assigned engineering discipline(s) within required timescales.
* Help to carry out engineering tasks to the highest safety, health and environmental standards in accordance with key site systems, procedures and the Engineering Modern Apprentice risk assessment.
* Assist with carrying out engineering planned maintenance and breakdown activities including first line diagnostics and problem solving.
* Develop core engineering skills and gain a good working knowledge of engineering processes and equipment across the site.
This role involves helping to undertake engineering planned maintenance and breakdown activities in a highly regulated upper tier COMAH site whilst also undertaking academic
qualifications
.
Qualifications
* Some form of work experience (all types considered).
* Minimum National 5 Maths at Grade C or equivalent.
* Minimum National 5 English at Grade C or equivalent.
* Minimum National 5 Chemistry or Physics at Grade C or equivalent.
* Minimum National 5 in a Technical Subject at Grade C or equivalent.
