Mechanical Maintenance Engineer – Cold Storage Facility Salary: £37,000 + 28 days holiday rising to 25 as time is served and a company pension, and also overtime @ time + 1/2 which is optional.
Shift: Days Monday to Friday 8 am to 4.30pm only
About the Role: We’re looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our team working in a cold storage facility. You’ll be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing mechanical and basic electrical systems, ensuring the smooth operation of loading docks and other site facilities.
What You’ll Do:
Maintain and repair hydraulic loading docks and mechanical systems.
Carry out basic electrical work (including isolation & testing – no qualifications required).
Conduct facility maintenance (e.g. using ladders, gutter cleaning, and general building upkeep).
Perform arc welding and assist with structural repairs.
Work in cold storage environments installing racking (protective clothing provided).
Assist with forklift maintenance (FLT license is a plus, but training is available).
Willingness to train in refrigeration systems for career growth. What We’re Looking For:
Mechanical engineering background – experience in manufacturing/processing.
Experience with hydraulics and loading dock maintenance.
Comfortable working in cold storage and at heights.
Basic electrical skills – ability to isolate and test systems.
Arc welding experience is a bonus.
FLT/MEWP license is a plus (or willingness to train).
